Stripe vs Moneris for Canadian trades: which should you use?

By The Servtide Team · June 18, 2026 · 4 min read

Servtide supports both Stripe and Moneris, so you can take a card on-site and have the money land in your own account. Which one’s right for you usually comes down to what you already have.

Stripe

  • Fast to set up — connect and start taking cards in minutes, no separate merchant account negotiation.
  • Works everywhere, with clear published per-transaction pricing.
  • A great default if you’re starting fresh or want the simplest path to online payments.

Moneris

  • A long-established Canadian processor — many shops already have a Moneris account.
  • If you’re already with Moneris, you can connect that account and keep your existing rates and relationship.
  • A natural fit for businesses that prefer a Canadian provider and may already use Moneris terminals in the shop.

How to choose

If you’re already set up with Moneris, connect it and keep what you have. If you’re starting from zero and want the quickest path to taking cards, Stripe is the easy default. Either way, payments flow into your own account and sync with the rest of Servtide — invoices, QuickBooks, and your reports.

You don’t have to switch processors to switch software. Bring the one you already use.
